Forgot about him he's been out so long. I wonder if he'll get used up top next season as we'll be without Carroll, Pea and possibly Perez and Arnie?

Back in training now and should be fit for start of next season according to Pelle. I really liked Andry once he found his feet in he Prem, it took a while but he was class against Everton. Will have a healthy battle with Antonio for a wide position.

Why West Ham should be excited by Andriy Yarmolenko signing
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini expects £17.5m signing Andriy Yarmolenko to be well suited to the Premier League, but what exactly will he bring to the London Stadium? Ukranian football expert Russ Taylor takes a look...
Yarmolenko is a player who will get fans off their seats. Having closely watched nearly two decades of Ukrainian football, I can tell you that he is a player who can deliver and who can deal with the weight of expectation.
Ever since breaking into the Dynamo Kiev first team around 10 years ago, Yarmolenko has been billed as the "next Sheva" and "the future of Ukrainian football". Since his debut - in which he scored the winner - he's dealt with the pressure effortlessly in being prolific for both club and, most notably, country.
For many years Dynamo and in particular the Ukrainian national team were reliant on a talisman. Previously it was another Andriy - Andriy Shevchenko - who would be given the ball under the pretence "give it to Sheva and hope something happens…"
Yarmolenko inherited this perhaps unwanted mantra but has delivered with a goal average of almost one every other game - not bad for a player who isn't a striker. He's also a shoe-in for the yearly Ukrainian Footballer of the Year award which he has made his own in the last few years after bagging 99 goals for Dynamo and regularly finding the net in their Champions League and Europa League adventures.
He's happiest out on the right wing, usually as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation and, like Arjen Robben made a career out of, Yarmolenko is always a looking to cut in onto his favoured left foot and shoot - as Tottenham fans might remember from their Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund earlier this season. That goal was the clearest example of what the Ukrainian likes to do best; find space in the channel, commit defenders and score spectacular goals.
But Yarmolenko is no one-trick pony - he's also a creator for others too. He commits defenders and draws fouls, forcing them to double-up or drop off him. He matches pace with power too and at 6ft 3in can certainly handle himself so the physicality of the Premier League won't hold any fears for him.
He's been on the radar of plenty of Premier League managers for some years but opted to join Borussia Dortmund last season after probably staying a season too long at Dynamo. Those sceptics who see a return of three goals in 18 appearances for the Bundesliga side might see this as Yarmolenko following a list of other Ukrainian exports who could not quite carry their talent abroad.
But there are mitigating factors. Dortmund went through unsettling managerial upheaval and then Yarmolenko picked up an Achilles injury nearing the midway point of the season followed by another foot injury. His career in the Ruhr did not start spectacularly but nor was he ever afforded the opportunity to rectify it as he only made two substitute appearances from January. It's true that some Dortmund fans will be happy to see the Ukrainian move on. Sometimes a move simply doesn't work out and the Yarmolenko of last season didn't tally with the same player who wears the national team shirt.
One positive from the Dortmund move is that his English lessons have already started in earnest thanks to a dressing room where English was widely spoken. And any fears of nagging injuries seem to have been alleviated by West Ham giving him a four-year contract. He's back in the goals too with a brace in a recent friendly win for Ukraine against Albania.
He's hungry and determined to make a success of this move, especially after his spell at Dortmund. And I think it's a great bit of business by West Ham.
All football fans want a player that has them holding them breath when they get the ball, thinking something special might be about to happen.
Yarmolenko is exactly that player.

Not wanting to rain on the parade but .....
According to Sky Germany’s Max Bielefeld, Dortmund made the decision to sell the Ukrainian winger because it was a chance to recoup the exact sum they paid for him.
Yarmolenko started last season on fire after replacing Ousmane Dembele – Barcelona’s replacement for Neymar – at Dortmund. “Obviously it was a huge gap to leave at Dortmund and they needed a new Dembele.
“At first he played well, he scored goals, he made decisive passes and Dortmund were quite happy but then from December onwards, the beginning of winter, he wasn’t playing that well anymore.
“He injured his foot and ended being out for a couple of weeks and never really played again at the end of the season.
“The fans liked him at first, I can assure you they are not so sad that Yarmolenko is leaving given the fact they received the same amount of money on him that they spent a year ago.
But his form tailed off with Yarmolenko falling down the pecking order at the club.
West Ham lodged a £17.5million bid for the wideman which was accepted and Yarmolenko completed his move to the London Stadium this week.
Bielefeld explained: “He had quite a good beginning of last season. He came from the Ukraine because Dortmund sold Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona.
They have players like Marco Reus, Christian Pulisic, Andre Schurrle - they don’t necessarily need Andriy Yarmolenko.”
Yarmolenko is West Ham’s fifth signing of the summer but co-chairman David Sullivan this week vowed that more would follow.
Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson is closing in on a move to the London Stadium while interest remains in Newcastle centre-back Jamaal Lascelles.

I saw a Fantasy Premier League article on him with a semi-trolling headline.
Yarmolenko can fill Arnautovic's midfield role
https://www.premierleague.com/news/784303
Just means Arnautovic is now considered a forward, apparently.

I don't think our transfer focus or how we set up on Sunday or Pellegrini's history indicate that we will be playing three in more withdrawn midfield roles.
Maybe he will have to change, when faced with decent opposition but I don't think that is the plan at this point.

Stepney if we play the way I suspect we will with a possession based game I have no qualms about having those three in there I actually think Rice will kick right on if last season is anything to go by although I do believe he’s a better centre half and will end up making that his role in the team Just glad he’s looking to get rid of Obiang and Kouyate shame about Antonio though I think he could still have a role to play if you can get him fit as it could take the two new wide boys a while to settle in

Agreed and I think it would solve a few problems. One is that we've regularly been overrun in midfield with only two previously and secondly Noble, Rice and Wilshere are all very comfortable on the ball and are able to pick out a pass. I don't see any of them conceding possession cheaply very often.
I wouldn't say the same about Kouyate and Obiang.

Re: Andriy Yarmolenko Signed

Stepney I’d have no concerns as I think your right withWilshere in there would probably be more of a 433 but both are good on the ball both are very intelligent players both string in the tackle and Rice has the legs to off set Nobles lack of pace. Also don’t underestimate the importance of having leaders in the team and I don’t see a natural leader without Noble in the side, plus he always steps up a couple gears when he has good players around him.
